Job Overview
As a Manual Machinist, you'll be responsible for operating conventional machine tools to produce high-precision components. You'll work from technical drawings and specifications, ensuring accuracy and consistency in every piece you create.
Key Responsibilities
Set up and operate manual milling machines, lathes, grinders, and other workshop equipment
Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
Measure and inspect finished components to ensure they meet required tolerances
Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of machines
Collaborate with engineers and other team members to troubleshoot and improve processes
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
Requirements
Proven experience as a manual machinist in a precision engineering environment
Strong understanding of machining techniques and materials
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality
Good communication and teamwork skills
NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering (preferred but not essential)
CNC experience (preferred but not essential)
