We're looking for someone to provide essential 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with a wide range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
Key Responsibilities:
As a SEND Teaching Assistant in a specialist setting, your role is crucial to the pupils' well-being and development. Your responsibilities will include:
* Delivering highly individualised support to pupils with severe, profound, and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD).
* Confidently using alternative and augmentative communication (AAC) methods, such as Makaton, PECS, or specialist technology, to foster engagement.
* Supporting pupils through their sensory needs, implementing personalised sensory diets and environmental adjustments.
* Assisting with all aspects of personal care, ensuring the highest level of dignity, safety, and respect for every pupil.
* Working closely with occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and speech and language therapists to deliver tailored intervention programmes.
* Meticulously tracking and documenting pupil progress against their complex Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs).
Requirements:
To succeed in this unique and rewarding role, you must have:
* Demonstrable experience working with children or young people with complex and profound SEND in a specialist school or care setting.
* A Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is highly desirable, but extensive, specialist experience is paramount.
* An Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or be willing to apply for a new one).
* The legal right to work in the UK without any restrictions.
* Specific training in areas such as Team Teach, Makaton, PECS, or manual handling is highly advantageous.
* A calm, patient, highly resilient, and flexible approach is essential.
