Job Description
Network Engineer - Broadcast IP Networks (SMPTE 2110, PTP/IEEE 1588, Arista Switching, EVPN Spine-Leaf, Multicast PIM/IGMP, Low-Latency Media Networks)
A leading organisation in the live sports broadcast and media production sector is building a brand-new broadcast and production facility in London and is looking for a Network Engineer with strong broadcast/IP media networking experience to join its founding engineering team.
This role will play a critical part in designing, building, and operating a high-performance IP network that supports live broadcast production, delivering ultra-reliable, low-latency transport for Real Time video, audio, and data workflows used by broadcasters globally.
This is a unique opportunity to build a next-generation broadcast network from the ground up, working within a small, highly skilled team responsible for delivering mission-critical infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, implement, and operate high-performance IP Networks supporting live broadcast and media production environments.
* Support Real Time video, audio, and data transport across a high-bandwidth broadcast infrastructure.
* Configure and manage Arista-based switching environments, including EVPN and spine-leaf architectures.
* Implement and troubleshoot SMPTE 2110 media transport networks used in IP-based broadcast workflows.
* Design and maintain Precision Time Protocol (PTP/IEEE 1588) timing architectures for synchronised media production.
* Manage and optimise multicast networking (PIM/IGMP) for large-scale media distribution.
* Ensure high availability, resilience, and near-zero downtime for mission-critical live broadcast operations.
* Work closely with broadcast engineers and infrastructure teams to support production requirements.
Requirements (Essential)
* Strong experience in broadcast or media production networking environments is essential.
* Hands-on experience working with SMPTE 2110 IP broadcast networks.
* Experience designing and troubleshooting PTP/IEEE 1588 timing architectures.
* Strong knowledge of multicast networking (PIM, IGMP) in high-bandwidth environments.
* Experience with Arista switching platforms or equivalent data centre networking technologies.
* Experience designing highly resilient, low-latency network infrastructure.
* Ability to operate in mission-critical environments where downtime is not acceptable.
Desirable
* Experience supporting live broadcast, sports production, or large-scale media environments.
* Knowledge of EVPN spine-leaf data centre network architectures.
* Experience working within IP-based broadcast or media facilities.
This is a rare opportunity to help build a world-class broadcast network from day one, shaping the infrastructure that powers live sports production at scale.
