Chemicals Regulatory Planning Advisor - 31294
We are seeking three aspiring technical leaders passionate about preventing chemicals from polluting the environment. While a scientific background is not required, comfort with technical details and scientific recommendations is essential. Candidates may have experience with regulatory agencies or industry sectors. Experience with one or more of the Environment Agency’s regulatory regimes (e.g., chemicals regulation, waste management, water or air quality, contaminated land, groundwater, water resources) is necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with waste management experts to assess waste types as pathways for persistent organic pollutants.
* Lead projects aimed at reducing PFAS pollutants, including reviewing environmental permits to ensure environmental protection.
* Review information on sources, pathways, and receptors for chemical pollutants and propose mitigation strategies.
* Evaluate regulatory approaches and recommend enhancements to prevent environmental harm.
* Consider impacts across air, land, and water, shaping Agency strategies for regulation.
* Work with colleagues to implement regulatory interventions effectively.
* Engage with external regulators, government departments, and trade bodies for coordinated regulatory efforts.
