This role can be based from either of our offices in Kirkby Lonsdale, England or Aviemore, Scotland, please specify which you prefer in your application.


Role Purpose & Overview

As Senior Custom Trip Designer within The Wilderness Group, you will create, accurately cost and sell personalised trip itineraries to a range of clients.

Focusing on our core destinations of Scotland and England, you will design meaningful custom travel experiences, nurturing a range of B2B agents and clients from opportunity to conversion and beyond. In this business area of high demand, you will operate to ambitious sales targets with a focus on world leading customer service and trip delivery.


Key Accountabilities

* Manage client relationships, nurture leads and drive sales conversions to meet the demands of the business.
* Create unique and inspiring custom trip proposals taking into consideration what is realistic from a client and logistical perspective.
* Provide clear and accurate information in a timely manner to the clients and the Operations Team.
* Achieve set sales and conversion targets to drive our business success.


Key Responsibilities

* Follow agreed sales processes to convert enquiries into bookings.
* Continue to evolve your own product knowledge and our offering.
* Collaborate with the operations team to ensure the smooth running of trips.
* Maintain up to date and accurate information on our CRM system.
* Compile detailed, accurate and well presented client travel documentation.
* Support the work of the sales team and wider Wilderness teams as required.


What do we typically look for in successful candidates across all roles?

* Good IT skills with experience in cloud-based CRM systems such as Salesforce, Google Drive and Mac applications.
* Strong administration and organisational skills, with the ability to maintain accuracy even when very busy.
* Consistently great attention to detail, even when faced with multiple tasks and deadlines.
* Good interpersonal skills, awareness and emotional intelligence with an ability to develop and sustain internal & external business relationships.
* A natural collaborator who enjoys working in teams with a diverse range of individuals.
* Is committed to sustainability and is an advocate for wild places and our planet.
* A genuine interest, knowledge and passion for adventure in the regions where Wilderness Group operates, wild places and adventure.
* A commitment to some weekend work to support with any 'out of hours' operational requirements.


Preferred role-specific Skills, Knowledge & Experience

* A verifiable track record of meeting or exceeding annual sales targets with excellent conversion rates (portfolio/figures may be requested).
* Experienced in creating and selling custom travel itineraries to a range of clients within the travel and tourism industry.
* B2B experience and/or inbound experience is a distinct advantage but not a requirement.
* Uses own initiative with a proven collaborative approach to problem‑solving.
* Experienced in supporting, mentoring and/or supervising team members ideally in sales environment.
* Has a proven track record of reaching and exceeding ambitious sales targets.
* Is agile, flexible and does quick but accurate work.
* Strong writing skills including copywriting and editing.
* Working knowledge of the tourism product in Scotland, England, Wales.
* A strong and clear commitment to customer service excellence and "extra mile" delivery.

* Private transfers throughoutWould like to see castles, have a whisky tasting and enjoy meeting the locals. Quite active but would like a relaxed pace of trip.
