Health, Safety and Environmental Officer (Decarbonisation Projects)
Location: Birmingham, England, United Kingdom
Hours: Monday‑Thursday 8am‑5pm and Friday 8am‑3pm with site travel required
Salary: Competitive depending on experience
Reporting to: HSE Manager (Decarbonisation Project)
Team Overview
The Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) department is dedicated to ensuring the wellbeing of all employees, contractors, and visitors across every project and site. The HSE team develops, implements, and monitors safety policies, risk assessments, and compliance with legal and industry standards. By fostering a strong safety culture and promoting environmental responsibility, the HSE team plays a critical role in protecting people, reducing incidents, and supporting sustainable business practices throughout Alternative Heat.
Responsibilities
* Develop and manage comprehensive safety and environmental programs for decarbonisation projects.
>Conduct risk assessments, inspections, audits, incident investigations, and maintain regulatory compliance.
* Drive training, competency, and embed safe and environmentally responsible practices across design, prefabrication, modularisation, and on‑site installation.
* Collaborate with project delivery teams, client representatives, and wider HSE department to ensure safe, compliant, sustainable operating environments.
* Lead continuous improvement through best practices and innovative approaches, emphasizing behavioural safety.
* Provide site visits and expert guidance on all HSE matters.
Qualifications
Ideal candidate will have a strong track record in managing HSE functions within Commercial M&E, Building Services, or Construction, with proven ability to develop and sustain robust safety programs across large, complex projects and influence stakeholders across the UK, Ireland, and Europe.
