About the job
Full time (37 hours per week) - Working hours, 2pm-10pm Monday-Thursday, 2pm – 9:30pm Friday. Interview Date - Week Commencing 6 October 2025. We are looking to recruit a Residential Life Advisor who will work in a support post providing information, advice and guidance to students living in halls of residence. While primarily a pastoral post you will also be responsible for managing behavioural issues in halls, in line with university rules and regulations. During busy periods you will also be required to work in the accommodation office, assisting with the allocation of students for the coming academic year. Staff will also be expected to participate in Open Days, Welcome Weekend and other key university events that may be outside the working week.

We are an accredited Living Wage Foundation Employer and currently pay the real living wage, which is currently £24,309 per annum. In recognition of this, the starting salary for this post has been increased to pay this higher amount which currently supersedes the actual Grade 4 salary before living wage.
Responsibilities
* Provide information, advice and guidance to students living in halls of residence.
* Support students in this environment with a range of services while monitoring safety, security and behaviour of residents.
* Manage behavioural issues in halls in line with university rules and regulations.
* Provide efficient and effective administrative support to the team; excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office software is essential.
* Assist with accommodation office duties during busy periods, including allocation of students for the coming academic year.
* Participate in Open Days, Welcome Weekend and other key university events that may be outside the normal working week.
About you
With excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you’ll have a good understanding of student accommodation issues and be able to effectively support students in this environment. You’ll need to provide a range of support services to students living in halls of residence whilst monitoring safety, security and the behaviour of residents. Efficient and effective administrative support to the team is an integral part of the post and excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office software is essential.
Qualifications
* Essential: Educated to GCSE/O Level or equivalent level qualifications or experience
