Job Summary
The Finance Planning and Analysis Manager will support the Financial & Commercial Director in forecasting and reporting the results of the Metroline Manchester bus franchises in Greater Manchester.
This role involves preparing monthly management accounts, analyzing variances to budgets and forecasts, and producing detailed depot packs for four operational units. The manager will lead the forecasting and budgeting processes, adapting existing procedures from London to fit Manchester’s operations. Working closely with finance business partners, the FP&A manager will develop a detailed bottom-up approach to all aspects of franchise forecasting and budgeting.
Responsibilities
* Establish and lead reforecasting and budgeting processes.
* Create and operate forecasting models for key business components such as driver costs, engineering headcount, and routine maintenance using a bottom-up methodology.
* Produce group monthly management accounts and depot packs, analyzing variances.
* Enhance company reporting with financial and non-financial metrics, explaining operational variances.
* Improve reporting and forecasting processes through continuous development and standardization.

Qualifications & Experience
* Qualified accountant (ACA/ACMA/ACCA) with at least 5 years of PQE.
* Experience in forecasting and reporting within a matrix organizational structure, working effectively with finance and non-finance stakeholders.
* Proficiency with IT systems, including finance systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP), and Microsoft Office suite.
* Experience reporting under IFRS standards.
* Strong Excel skills, capable of modeling complex business problems from scratch or by modifying existing models.
* Oracle experience is desirable but not essential.
Hours of Work
Full-time, 38 hours per week, permanent contract. Flexibility in hours/days (including weekends) is required based on operational needs.
