You are responsible for making sure your team delivers excellent administrative support and customer service to service users, judiciary and management.
HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS) is responsible for the administration of criminal, civil and family Courts and Tribunals in England and Wales. Role and responsibilities
Leading your team, you'll focus on the team's area of work, ensuring that work is prioritised and organised and your team are fully skilled to meet objectives. As an effective Team Leader, you recognise the importance of the team's wellbeing and can motivate your team to succeed.
You will contribute to the delivery of operational, performance and service standard targets and provide statistical data for the management team and judiciary. Your keen eye for detail and desire for continuous improvement is key to your success. Responsibilities include monitoring and analysing performance areas and trends, conducting ongoing reviews of procedures and work practices, and recommending improvements. You will navigate change and manage the implementation of new initiatives and legislation.
Working patterns and locations
This is a challenging and rewarding role, key to the smooth running of operational functions throughout HMCTS. Standard full-time hours are 37 per week. HMCTS welcomes part-time, flexible and job-sharing patterns, where they meet the demands of the role and business needs. Applications for part-time working would be considered, with a minimum of 30 hours per week over 5 days. There are two posts available:
* Pretson Designated Family Court (Preston) – base location. Postholder will attend Leyland Family Hearing Centre as required, due to its function as a hearing centre; travel not expected regularly.
* Blackburn Designated Family Court – base location. Postholder will attend Reedley Family Hearing Centre as required, due to its function as a hearing centre; travel not expected regularly.
Locations and recruitment process
The reserve list for this campaign will be managed in accordance with location preferences. We will appoint in merit list order for each location and hold separate locational reserve lists for each location for 12 months. If offered a role in a preferred location and decline, you may be removed from the reserve list for that vacancy.
Immigration and sponsorship
Skilled Worker Visa. From 22 July 2025, the Government increased the salary threshold and skills level for Skilled Worker visas. This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for sponsorship for first-time applicants under current immigration rules. The department cannot sponsor unless you have held a Skilled Worker visa continuously since before 22 July 2025. If you have held a Skilled Worker visa continuously, raise this during vetting checks for eligibility assessment. If you do not meet the new eligibility criteria or transitional provisions, you will need to consider your right to work in the UK.
Security and nationality
Successful candidates must undergo a criminal record check. People working with government assets must complete baseline personnel security standard checks. This job is broadly open to: UK nationals; nationals of the Republic of Ireland; nationals of Commonwealth countries with right to work in the UK; nationals of the EU/EEA/Switzerland/Norway/Iceland/Liechtenstein and family members with settled or pre-settled status; those who have valid settled/pre-settled status or have applied; and other eligible categories as per the EUSS. * Experience of working in an administrative role in a customer-focused environment.
* IT proficient with the ability to learn and adapt to different technologies and software packages.
* Excellent communication, organisational and prioritisation skills.
