Overview
Following the development of a brand new 25 self contained complex within Temporary Accommodation, we are advertising for 4 new housing support roles working within our new project in the Shrewsbury area where you will be a part of a team who supports individuals and households on site and throughout the Shrewsbury area. You will be providing targeted housing support to households who have become homeless and placed into temporary accommodation. Working alongside the Housing Options Team by supporting those in temporary accommodation to progress with their homeless case and to identify barriers such as mental health, substance misuse, domestic abuse, employment and debt management. To actively support households in becoming tenancy ready by providing support to enable them to transition from temporary accommodation and into their own settled home within the community and living as independently as possible.
Responsibilities
* Communicate effectively with households from various backgrounds at a time of crisis.
* Work as part of a strong team and/or manage your own caseload, prioritising accordingly.
* Support households to progress their homeless case and identify barriers such as mental health, substance misuse, domestic abuse, employment and debt management.
* Provide person-centred support to enable tenancy readiness and to support the transition from temporary accommodation to a settled home within the community.
Qualifications/Skills
* Ability to communicate effectively with households from diverse backgrounds and in crisis situations.
* Friendly, approachable, empathetic and professional manner.
* Confidence to advocate for individuals and families who have disengaged from services due to health or personal circumstances.
* Person-centred approach and the ability to work towards achieving outcomes and KPIs.
* Experience in housing support or related social care is desirable.
