As a Team Member in our café, you’re part of everything – a bit of cooking, a bit of chatting with customers, and a lot of impact. You’ll ensure that every dish you prepare and serve meets our menu standards and safety requirements. You’ll also help keep kitchen equipment and customer tables tidy and clean.
This is a lively role with everyday challenges, alongside flexible working hours, opportunities for progression and more.
It’s our policy to offer new colleagues a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours each week. If you’d like to work fewer hours (to a minimum of 12), we have opportunities for this too and would love to hear from you.
The table shows the periods of time in the week we’d like you to be available to work – the availability windows. We will schedule your contracted hours within these times, and you’ll have 3 weeks’ notice of exactly when your shifts will be. You will be responsible for
Whilst specific responsibilities depend on Tesco’s needs, the key responsibilities and measures include:
* Keeping kitchen equipment and utensils clean and tidy.
* Serving customers quickly, efficiently and with care.
* Following food safety and hygiene regulations while keeping daily records.
* Practising first in, first out (FIFO) stock rotation to keep food fresh.
* Accepting deliveries and safely storing food.
* Following all operational policies and procedures.
* Preparing, cooking, and serving food according to the café’s menu.
* Maintaining standards and ensuring food availability.
* Knowing the café menu and serving food as intended.
* Resolving customer complaints and communicating with the Café Manager.
* Staying up-to-date with business communications and new initiatives.
* Clearing and sanitising tables to keep the café clean.
You will need
* A commitment to hospitality and excellent customer service.
* Knowledge of Health and Safety standards.
* The ability to work efficiently and maintain a clean environment.
Personal
* Comfortable working in a team.
* Great communicator with a proactive attitude.
* Ability to multitask and work well under pressure.
* Confident using initiative to improve ways of working.
* Good at planning and keeping things organised.
* Adaptable to working in a fast-paced environment.
