University Hospitals Dorset, Royal Bournemouth Hospital, is seeking to recruit a Clinical Fellow ST3+ to work in the Emergency Department. This is an excellent opportunity for a doctor at registrar/middle grade level to gain experience in a busy Emergency Department.
The post holder will join the Emergency Department team on a self-rostering system, which includes day, evening, weekend, and night shifts.
The Registrar Doctor Rota will include an additional Educational Development Time (EDT) each week. EDT can be used for clinical duties (such as WPBAs or ELSEs) or non-clinical activities (such as ultrasound, teaching, audit, QIP).
The post provides an Educational Supervisor, career advice, and a generous study leave budget. There is formal senior teaching every 6 weeks, including simulation sessions, lectures, RCEM guideline updates, and journal clubs. As a Simulation Fellow, you will be encouraged to help shape these educational days and prepare simulation scenarios for your fellow registrars.
In Bournemouth Hospital Emergency Department, there are 15 ED Consultants, Registrars, Middle Grades, SHO grade doctors, and Advanced Clinical Practitioners.
Advantages of this post:
1. Enhance your clinical skills by working with a diverse group of consultants with various specialist interests.
2. Develop leadership skills in managing the department under consultant supervision.
3. Gain experience in leading major trauma teams and improve ultrasound scanning techniques.
4. Support from ED Consultants with CESR experience in Emergency Medicine to achieve this qualification, if applicable.
5. Receive supervision and mentorship from consultants qualified as RCEM examiners, ARCP panel members, and national interviewers.
