As HVAC & Refrigeration Design Engineer, you will work across the design and development of refrigeration systems.
We are currently recruiting for a HVAC & Refrigeration Design Engineer to join a growing engineering SME. The company specializes in low batch projects that are supplied into specialist sectors. As Design Engineer, you will have the chance to work on a range of projects across design, development, and quality. This is a brand‑new role created through project growth.
Salary & Hours
c£45,000 as a guide. Days based role – 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Mon – Thurs, and 8:00 am – 1:00 pm finish on a Friday. Overtime paid at x1.5 on any hours after basic 37 hours per week.
This HVAC Design Engineer job will suit
* Strong understanding of refrigeration cycles and thermodynamics
* Experience in the design of HVAC&R or thermofluid systems
* Knowledge of heat transfer and fluid flow principles
* Experience in product development or system design
* Experience in designing systems in accordance with relevant safety and regulatory standards
* Practically minded, happy to run tests and retain some hands‑on engineering elements

The HVAC Design Engineer job will involve
* Design and develop refrigeration systems and bespoke engineering equipment
* Produce detailed 3D CAD models and engineering drawings
* Perform thermodynamic calculations and system simulations
* Select appropriate components (compressors, heat exchangers, expansion devices, refrigerants)
* Ensure compliance with relevant standards (e.g., PED, CE marking, safety regulations)
* Build and test prototypes, analysing performance and efficiency
