The Business Analyst is an integral part of a feature team and also a member of the wider Business Analysis community, reporting to a senior Business Analyst within the Life Technology department. The role normally works as part of an agile feature team as the sole Business Analyst on the team.
Responsibilities
* Investigating, understanding and capturing requirements: You’ll work with the feature team to work on requirements, present them in a way that can be understood, and support their build and implementation. This may be with internal teams or partners who are third parties.
* Contribute to the team and produce the right outcomes: You’ll work with the Business Analysts to help them to do the right activities and to produce the right outputs. You will step in and be part of the team where necessary.
* Unblock problems and issues: Work with the team to anticipate and unblock issues that may be encountered. You’ll need to find solutions and facilitate their implementation.
* Prioritisation: Where there is more demand than supply, help prioritise in creative ways so the work can be completed.
* Be an active contributor in the Business Analysis community: Participate in the wider Business Analysis team. Support the Head of Business Analysis. Help drive continuous improvement.
* Stakeholder management: Build relationships with peers and stakeholders and influence them for the positive in the area of Business Analysis.
Qualifications and Skills
* Technology skills: You will have a good understanding of technology and be comfortable working in a technology team. Familiar with architecture terminology and broad experience of key industry software. Able to dive into technology detail and analyse data. Comfortable working in agile and waterfall methodologies; understand advantages and disadvantages of different methodologies.
* Understanding business processes: Ability to understand good business processes, document current processes clearly, identify opportunities for optimization and transformation. Familiar with financial services products and practices.
* Research and critical thinking: Ability to consider several possible outcomes, identify the best outcome by probing and researching viable options, and present findings appropriately for the audience.
* People and communication skills: Ability to interact with many people at different levels, understand what motivates them, listen effectively, and communicate clearly at the appropriate level of detail.
* Business Analysis skills: Knowledge of formal business analysis methods to investigate, analyse, visualise and articulate problems, ensuring solutions align with the vision of M&G and market trends.
* Can-do attitude: Willingness to find solutions, overcome issues, and roll up your sleeves to get the job done.
