About the role
Procurement Manager – Tesco Underwriting team (Hybrid – 1–2 days per week in office). Permanent role based in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Newcastle, Southampton or Reigate. Salary from £55,000 – £70,000 (DOE) plus annual bonus & benefits. Closing date: 25th May at 5pm.
Responsibilities
* Align procurement activities with Tesco Underwriting strategic objectives.
* Identify contract requirements and write specifications for existing contracts and/or new contracts.
* Manage contract delivery as part of our contract management program and take personal responsibility for a limited number of mission‑critical contracts.
* Build formal and informal relationships inside and outside Tesco Underwriting.
* Track risk parameters, identify deviations and report them to senior leadership.
* Develop stakeholder engagement by identifying needs, concerns and responding to support business decisions.
* Support the TU Procurement Team with contract administration, tracking and reporting to maintain governance and efficiency.
* Deliver high savings targets through robust sourcing events, ensuring suppliers meet operational requirements and provide best value.
* Track and report on savings targets for specified sub‑categories using the agreed process.
* Use sound judgement to build and develop supplier relationships for continued suitability and greater value.
* Support the business to achieve compliance with legal, ethical and social procurement policies with integrity and good judgement.
Qualifications
* Proven experience leading RFP processes for Tier 1 suppliers.
* Experience in professional services and claims supply chain categories.
* Robust experience in procurement for underwriting and claims services.
* Motor / home / personal line experience is advantageous.
* CIPS qualified or working towards qualification.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, evolving environment, ensuring procurement activities align with strategic objectives.
* Experience working within a large corporate entity with global reach.
* Strategic mindset – seeing ahead to future possibilities and translating them into breakthrough strategies.
* Building partnerships and working collaboratively to meet shared objectives.
* Effective communication – developing and delivering multi‑mode communications conveying a clear understanding of needs of different audiences.
