OVERVIEW An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and driven Quantity Surveyor to join a reputable construction consultancy in Birmingham. This role offers the opportunity to deliver cost management services across a wide range of construction projects throughout both pre- and post-contract stages. This position is ideal for a Quantity Surveyor looking to take greater ownership of projects, manage commercial responsibilities independently, and continue developing their career within a consultancy environment. ROLE As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for providing cost management and commercial support across multiple construction projects, from early design stages through to final account. You will manage key commercial elements of projects, liaise directly with clients and contractors, and ensure financial performance aligns with project objectives. The role encompasses cost planning, procurement, contract administration, and financial reporting responsibilities. RESPONSIBILITIES Key responsibilities include: Delivering cost management services across pre- and post-contract stages Preparing cost plans, budgets, and financial reports Managing tender processes, procurement, and contract documentation Assessing contractor valuations, variations, and change control Monitoring project costs, cash flow, and financial performance Administering contracts under JCT and/or NEC forms Liaising with clients, contractors, and consultant teams Attending and contributing to project and commercial meetings Preparing and agreeing final accounts Providing accurate cost and progress updates to clients and internal stakeholders Maintaining a professional, proactive, and commercially focused approach PERSON The ideal Quantity Surveyor will demonstrate: A relevant degree in Quantity Surveying or a related built environment discipline Proven experience in a construction consultancy or contractor environment Strong working knowledge of JCT and/or NEC contracts Experience working with developers, consultants, and/or main contractors Excellent numerical, analytical, and commercial skills Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities Excellent organisational and time management skills A proactive, self-motivated approach with the ability to manage workload independently Competency with Microsoft Office and cost management software Good understanding of procurement routes and cost control processes REMUNERATION In return for your contribution, our client offers a competitive and comprehensive package, including: Competitive salary, dependent on experience Company pension scheme Private healthcare Full-time, permanent position based in Nottingham Supportive, professional, and collaborative working environment Ongoing professional development and career progression support Equal opportunities employer Atkins Search acts as an employment agency for the Built Environment including but not limited to Construction, Consultancy, Residential and Infrastructure sectors.
