Assistant Facilities Manager Contract: Government Location: Tewkesbury, GL20 8JG Hours of work: 40 Contract Type: Permanent We are seeking an Assistant Facilities Manager to support the safe, compliant and effective delivery of facility services across multiple sites in Hereford, Gloucester and Tewkesbury. This hybrid role will involve weekly travel to sites, overseeing Placemakers, managing contractors and ensuring operational standards are consistently met. Job Description We are looking for an individual with solid FM experience who can manage contracts, PPMs, documentation, compliance and stakeholder relationships. The role reports to the Regional Facilities Manager and will play a key part in creating an excellent workplace experience for our customers. Key Responsibilities Support the delivery, performance and ongoing development of the facilities service solution across the designated region. Ensure all sites remain safe, secure and fully compliant with Health & Safety legislation, including risk assessments, method statements, permits and contractor inductions. Line manage and support Placemakers, ensuring effective supervision, 1-2-1s, appraisals, recruitment, training and succession planning. Oversee weekly site visits, rostering and staffing to ensure contractual coverage, including sickness and absence management. Ensure all FM documentation (audits, COSHH, H&S records, SOPs, PPMs) is accurate, up to date and reviewed within required timescales. Maintain strong cost control, including materials, consumables, labour and agency usage, while identifying margin improvement opportunities. Manage customer queries and complaints in line with the customer complaints procedure, ensuring timely response and resolution. Identify opportunities for service improvement, additional revenue and enhanced customer experience across the region. Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications Proven experience in Facilities Management, including PPMs, contract management and working with multiple stakeholders. Experience leading a small team and managing performance in a facilities environment. Strong operational problem-solving skills with the ability to work resiliently and independently. Excellent communication and organisational skills. Understanding of compliance, health and safety and FM documentation requirements. UK driving licence (regional travel required).
