Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and driven Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our multidisciplinary water/wastewater design team. This role involves leading the delivery of mechanical design solutions within an agile, Design & Build environment. You will guide project teams across global offices, provide expert input into the production and review of technical deliverables, and ensure designs meet programme, budget, and regulatory requirements. Duties & Responsibilities
* Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment across teams Worldwide, including the UK, to ensure successful delivery of projects.
* Lead and contribute to the efficient delivery of projects to meet programme and budget, complying with OCU business management governance.
* Provide expert guidance in the production and review of design deliverables including engineering design calculation, drawings and report writing for projects in accordance with relevant design standard, codes and Purestream design management system.
* Lead and contribute to quality and safe design of technical solutions for projects in accordance with relevant design standards and codes.
* Strong communication skills and be able to deliver technical presentations to clients and other design engineers as well as inputting into collaborative design discussions including technical workshops, and safety reviews including HAZOPs and ALMs.
* Client and construction team engagement (incl. Design & Build) to manage and contribute to discussions on technical water EICA engineering solutions, to technical and non-technical clients – both during project delivery and bidding stages.
* You will understand how water and wastewater treatment processes operate and be experienced in assessing existing site infrastructure to develop and deliver the mechanical design
* Providing support to allow the project team to comply with the duties of Designer under CDM including the production of design risk assessments.
Skills & Requirements
* Educated to degree level within Mechanical engineering or equivalent; Chartered or Incorporated Engineer Status or close to achieving this with the IMechE or equivalent institution.
* Hands on experience of design/design-&-build/project and bid delivery in the water and/or wastewater engineering sector in the UK.
* A strong technical water sector background, incl. knowledge of WIMES, relevant UK codes and asset standards, for water and/or wastewater infrastructure and/or non-infrastructure assets.
* Highly motivated, organised and with a strong desire to lead and contribute to technical excellence within project teams and wider OCU team/practice.
* Experience of working with contractors to deliver the successful implementation of engineering solutions in the Design & Build environment.
* Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work both collaboratively and independently within a multidisciplinary team including with Clients, Contractors and colleagues alike.
* Flexible approach to work type and locations for project assignments, if required, with visits to sites or client office for meetings.
