Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
Annual Salary: M1 to UPS3 £, to £, (depending on skills and experience)

As part of our growth strategy; we’re really pleased to be opening a brand new SEN School in Autumn 6 – Aurora Ravensfield. Based in Colchester this brand new school will have a proposed capacity of students aged 5-.
The “old School House” is situated in the picturesque village of Stratford St Mary and will service Essex and Suffolk local authorities. The building will have a variety of classrooms and therapy spaces including a specialist Science and Cookery rooms.
Are you a passionate and experienced educator with a commitment to inclusive learning? Aurora Ravensfield School is seeking a dedicated SENCO to lead and champion our provision for students with complex and special educational needs.
This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact in a specialist SEMH setting, working closely with staff, families, and external professionals to ensure every student reaches their full potential.
About the Role
As SENCO, you’ll play a key role in shaping and delivering high-quality, inclusive education across the school. You’ll lead the Annual Review process, support staff development, and ensure that our SEN provision meets the highest standards.
You’ll be responsible for:
1. Promoting an inclusive approach to SEN across the school
2. Liaising with EHCP Coordinators and external professionals
3. Supporting teaching staff with specialist training and strategies
4. Monitoring and evaluating SEN teaching and learning
5. Leading on assessment, data tracking, and reporting
6. Providing CPD and INSET on SEN best practice
7. Contributing to strategic planning and school improvement
Skills and Qualifications
What We’re Looking For
8. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and PGCE or equivalent
9. SENCO qualification (or willingness to complete within 3 years)
10. Experience working with pupils with SEN, ideally in a specialist setting
11. Strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and safeguarding
12. Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills
13. A collaborative, creative, and child-centred approach
