Overview

What if you could shape a career as unique as you?

At WSP, you can always find opportunities to grow and do what matters to you. Make the most of our global reach to discover new challenges and chances to work with diverse, talented individuals who will help you expand your horizons.

Role and scope

A little more about your role…

If you’re looking for a role where you can shape major projects, influence outcomes, and grow your career, this could be the opportunity for you.

We’re looking for an experienced Associate / Associate Director to join our Environmental Consents team in Scotland. In this role, you’ll have the chance to work across a diverse mix of sectors—from energy and aviation to rail, nuclear, property and local government—giving you real variety and exposure to high-profile, complex projects.

This is more than just a delivery role. You’ll play an integral part in winning, shaping and delivering multidisciplinary projects, with the autonomy to make decisions and the backing of a highly respected global consultancy behind you.

What you’ll gain from joining WSP

At WSP, you’ll be part of one of the UK’s leading environmental consultancies, trusted to deliver on projects ranging from local developments to nationally significant infrastructure.

More importantly, for you, this means:

* Opportunities to lead and influence environmentally critical projects from concept through to delivery
* Collaboration with leading specialists and design teams, helping you broaden your expertise
* A platform to develop your leadership, technical and commercial skills
* The ability to shape sustainable outcomes and drive real environmental improvement
* Support to progress your career at pace, whether that’s technical excellence, leadership or business development

What you’ll be doing

In this role, you’ll have the space and support to:

* Lead and inspire multidisciplinary teams, guiding environmental inputs into project design and assessment
* Make a visible impact by improving environmental performance across major projects
* Take ownership of projects—including team leadership, delivery, financial performance and client engagement
* Grow and expand work, working alongside sector leaders to win and shape new opportunities
* Act as a trusted advisor to clients, helping them navigate environmental challenges with confidence
* Build strong relationships and create opportunities for future work and collaboration
* Contribute to innovative approaches such as digital EIA and future-ready solutions
* Support and mentor colleagues, helping others develop and succeed alongside you
* Play an active role in fostering an inclusive, supportive team culture

What you’ll bring

We’re interested in people who are not only technically strong, but also motivated to lead, influence and grow. You’ll bring:

* A relevant environmental or planning background (degree or equivalent experience)
* Strong experience delivering Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA)
* Familiarity with wider consenting processes such as HRA and SSSI
* A broad understanding of environmental issues across the development lifecycle
* Experience leading teams and supporting others’ development
* A track record of contributing to business growth or winning work
* The confidence to communicate clearly and build strong relationships

Why this role stands out

This is a great opportunity if you want to:

* Step into (or further develop) a leadership role with real influence
* Work on complex, meaningful projects that make a difference
* Be part of a business that values innovation, sustainability and people development
* Shape not just projects—but also teams, clients and the future direction of the business

Imagine a better future for you and a better future for us all.

Work on landmark projects around the world and embrace opportunities to make an even bigger impact in the communities you care about. What if you could do the best work of your life and create a legacy for yourself?

With us, you can. Apply today.
