Job overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated midwife to join our maternity education team, working alongside clinical staff to strengthen skills, confidence, and high‑quality care across our services. This role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting others, enhancing clinical standards, and shaping the development of our midwifery workforce.
As a key member of the team, you will work closely with band 5 midwives, students, and support staff to promote safe, evidence‑based practice. You will act as a visible clinical role model, supporting colleagues in developing and maintaining the knowledge and competencies required to deliver excellent care. A core part of the role involves contributing to educational programmes and assisting with the delivery of mandatory training days.
You will collaborate with a wide range of partners—including Trust Learning & Development teams, ambulance services, other maternity units, and local Higher Education Institutes—to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
This is a rewarding opportunity for a midwife who enjoys teaching, coaching, and working alongside others to drive continuous improvement in maternity care.
This role is eligible for visa sponsorship under the UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) Skilled Worker route. Sponsorship can only be provided where applicants meet the specific requirements set by UKVI, including the relevant skill and salary thresholds, and any role-specific criteria.
Main duties of the job
In this role, you will act as an expert clinical resource, supporting midwives and students to deliver safe, evidence‑based and compassionate maternity care. You will facilitate learning in practice and help staff develop advanced clinical skills through tailored education, coaching and structured development plans.
Working collaboratively with the maternity education team, you will plan, coordinate and deliver learning activities—including elements of mandatory training—and support the implementation of the National Preceptorship Framework for Midwifery.
Strong communication is central to the role. You will build effective relationships with staff, women, families, multidisciplinary teams and Higher Education Institutions, providing constructive feedback, supporting informed decision‑making, and addressing barriers to learning with empathy and professionalism.
As a role model for high standards of care, you will promote excellent record‑keeping, support staff to deliver holistic, evidence‑based care, and help embed best practice across the service. You will take responsibility for your own professional development, participating in appraisal, mandatory training and ongoing learning to meet the evolving needs of the role.
