About Us? The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health Ltd was established by its founding members to provide a coordinated and integrated approach to the planning, development and delivery of comprehensive primary health care services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations within South‑East Queensland. The Oral Health service team works to improve access to dental care for IUIH and Member Services, focusing on empowering Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals. The service aims to promote oral health, support family well‑being, and ensure high‑quality culturally appropriate oral health services for all clients through integrated holistic care.
About the Role? The position is responsible for delivering improved oral health outcomes in Indigenous communities. It provides dental, education and training services within a comprehensive primary health care service. The role is part‑time until January 2026 and involves service delivery from designated primary clinic locations. Responsibilities include:
* Providing quality education and instruction on diet and other aspects of dental care.
* Assisting in development and implementation of oral health promotion, education and awareness activities.
* Administering anesthetics and writing prescriptions for antibiotics and other medications where required.
* Performing comprehensive patient diagnoses, assessments, treatments, and repairs to improve health outcomes.
* Ensuring dental care complies with national ethical, legal standards and dental care regulations.
About You? Desired qualifications and credentials are:
* Current AHPRA registration.
* Current First Aid & CPR certificate.
* Bachelor’s degree in Dentistry.
* Professional medical indemnity insurance.
* Current QLD C‑class driver’s licence.
Desirable, but not mandatory:
* Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and/or communities.
