Job Description

Vacancies have arisen for craft technician electrical. The purpose of the post is the delivery of maintenance and the job holder will support plant maintenance activities.

Hear From The Hiring Manager

The successful candidate will join either the reactors or fuel cycle area engineering maintenance teams. The successful candidate will integrate into the electrical teams to support delivery of maintenance and project tasks to the highest of regulatory and professional standards.

Responsibilities

Liaise with suppliers/manufacturers on technical issues
Mentor apprenticeship development and may be an SVQ assessor
Produce fit for purpose job reports describing accurately the work that has been carried out, recommendations, solutions, planned maintenance instructions (PMI) amendment details, conditions assessments, etc
Assess the effectiveness of maintenance procedures and provide required amendments and changes
Identify and rectify routine maintenance problems where applicable
Utilise diagnostic techniques to identify faults plants, systems and components
Reinstate the work area after completing the maintenance of plant, systems and components
Identify and report common equipment performance issues
Carry out planned maintenance activities and defect rectification efficiently, includes defect investigation of causes and proposal of solutions whilst maintaining a focus on programme and resources
Identify obsolescence and end-of-life issues
Conduct safe and effective handover of plant and equipment to others and accept and confirm responsibility for the control of the plant and equipment within the work area isolation boundary
Identify areas/opportunities for improvement processes, working practice, equipment utilisation, etc, offering solutions where appropriate
Perform the responsibilities of authorisations relevant to the post. Hold a relevant disciplined nominated appointment

Aptitudes And Experience

Electrical Apprenticeship plus HNC in Engineering or equivalent qualifications plus experience
Relevant experience in electrical maintenance
Have 18th Edition or working to achieve this qualification.
Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
Good interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
Self-motivated and assertive
Good level of IT skills
Good safety culture
Post specific capability analysis assessment

Please note: All successful candidates who do not already hold security clearance will need to provide proof of identity, eligibility to work in the UK, and employment/education history (typically covering the last 3–5 years) in line with NRS Baseline Security requirements. Some roles may also require full Security Clearance, which involves additional checks. For details, please refer to the Defence Business Services National Security Vetting (DBS NSV) guidance.

Standard full time working week with every third Friday off (unless subject to shift work). This working pattern equates to approximately 17 days additional holidays per year
