Overview

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic individual into a busy working environment. The aim of the role is to clean, sterilise and pack instruments for use in operating theatres and ensure sets are in full working order. The successful applicant should be able to provide clean, sterile packed instruments 7 days per week.


Responsibilities

* To clean, sterilise and pack instruments for use in operating theatres and ensure sets are in full working order.
* To follow correct procedures in the wash room, ensuring safe use of the washer disinfectors and safety equipment to prevent contamination of people or equipment.
* To clean theatre and ward instruments using automatic washer disinfectors or by hand in extreme cases.
* To provide clinical technical services to patients/clients.
* To inspect equipment when packing or reassembling to ensure cleaning standards are met.
* To check for cleanliness and pack trays and instruments that have been through the automatic washer disinfectors.
* To safely use autoclave sterilizers to ensure all equipment meets standards and is correctly batch stamped for traceability.
* To ensure maintenance of all instruments that come through the department, including assembly/dismantling and sending broken instruments for repair.
* To use hand–eye coordination to check, pack and assemble equipment quickly and accurately.
* To deal with bodily fluids and contaminants on dirty instruments on a day-to-day basis.
* To collect dirty trays from wards, theatres, the post room, and clinics, requiring pushing of heavy trolleys and potential exposure to distressing circumstances.
