About this opportunity

We're looking for a Senior Enterprise Architect to join our Chief Technology Office (CTO – Cloud). This is a hands‑on leadership role where you'll influence strategy, guide transformation, and collaborate across the Group to deliver resilient, modern platforms. You'll work with senior stakeholders and engineering teams, balancing technical depth with business outcomes to accelerate change.

The candidate will have both hands‑on engineering and architectural capabilities, and will evolve and maintain a balance between them as part of the role within the team supporting our public cloud, private cloud and engineering platforms.

Day to day

* Define and evolve cloud and platform strategies that align with Group priorities.
* Lead transformation initiatives to deliver secure, scalable platforms across public and private cloud.
* Accountably influence, challenge and support the Enabling Platform teams to build and align their strategic roadmaps, acting as the voice of the customer and enabling delivery of business roadmaps across all Business Platforms, guiding Cloud (Public & Private) product delivery.
* Create clear architecture roadmaps and standards, providing governance and technical leadership.
* Build trusted relationships with senior leaders and technical teams to influence decisions.
* Drive innovation and continuous improvement while mentoring colleagues and sharing expertise.

Why Lloyds Banking Group

What you'll need

* Strong communication and storytelling skills to engage senior stakeholders.
* Deep knowledge of architecture principles and modern technologies, with solid understanding of both traditional on‑premise and cloud‑native technologies.
* Proven application‑level architecture and engineering experience, focused on Cloud Native solutions with modern development languages, and guiding engineering teams.
* Desire to maintain, balance and deepen technical and engineering skills alongside architectural capabilities.
* Awareness of emerging tech like Gen AI and Quantum, with the ability to assess business impact and architectural implications.
* Track record of driving innovation and continuous improvement in complex environments.
* Experience in large, regulated organisations (financial services preferred).
* Shaping enterprise‑scale cloud strategies and roadmaps.
* Influencing platform teams to deliver customer‑focused outcomes.
* Designing for non‑functional requirements and performance at scale.
* Executive‑level stakeholder engagement and collaboration.
