Job Description
We are seeking a full‑time Blast Associate Technical Lead to join our Building Engineering Division in the UK. The role is part of AECOM’s Specialisms Operating Unit within the Security & Technology engineering group.
Responsibilities
- Lead blast protection design and provide expert technical input.
- Oversee blast‑related project production, workload management, and quality assurance.
- Collaborate with clients, Security, and Structural teams to develop solutions.
- Contribute to business development, sales, and work‑winning initiatives.
- Conduct risk and threat assessments to determine appropriate treatments.
- Produce documentation, specifications, feasibility studies, and concept/scheme designs.
- Manage client projects, including progress reporting and contract administration.
- Mentor peers and share best practices in Safety, Health & Environment (SH&E).
Qualifications
Essential skills & experience:
- Broad technical knowledge of security with expert blast analysis and design.
- Proven ability to define operational and strategic requirements for design.
- Expertise in CFD modelling and advanced 3‑D finite element modelling.
- Proficiency with ANSYS, AutoDyn, or similar software.
- Strong understanding of physical security solutions and performance standards.
- Experience in threat reduction, structural vulnerability analysis, façade and glass evaluation, collision impact analysis, and fire effects.
- Excellent writing, project management, and analytical skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for senior‑level engagement.
- Tact, persuasiveness, and collaborative spirit.
- Proficient IT skills and self‑motivation.
- Ability to hold or obtain Security Clearance.
Key responsibilities also include:
- Gathering technical data and information.
- Writing employer requirements and specifications.
- CFD modelling and complex structural analysis.
- Completing feasibility studies and design reviews.
- Developing detailed designs.
- Tender management and vetting.
- Presentations and sales support.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant qualification in security or engineering.
- Professional certifications such as RSES, CSyP, PSP, MSyl.
- Experience with AutoCAD and Revit.
