Bristol, Hybrid (2 days on site, 3 remote)
A growing digital health company is opening a Bristol office and building its UK AI team from scratch. They work exclusively with major pharmaceutical organisations. You would be one of the first UK hires, with real influence on how the team is shaped.
The role is 70% hands on technical work, 30% client facing. You will build production grade Generative AI applications for enterprise pharma clients. When the dev team gets stuck, you unblock them. When the client needs clarity on direction, you explain the options. No formal people management. You lead by doing.
What you will work on:
* Architect and build GenAI and agentic applications (LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, Pydantic AI)
* Implement RAG pipelines with vector databases (Pinecone, ChromaDB, Weaviate, pgvector)
* Design prompt and context engineering approaches for accuracy, cost and latency
* Build Python microservices following clean architecture and SOLID principles
* Deploy on AWS/GCP/Azure with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD
* Work directly with pharmaceutical clients to turn business problems into technical solutions
* Lead POCs and innovation sprints on emerging AI techniques
What you bring:
* 7 to 12 years in software development, 3+ years in AI/ML or Generative AI
* Strong Python. This is a Python first company
* Production experience deploying GenAI/LLM systems at enterprise scale
* Good communication skills. You will be in front of clients
* UK based with established UK market experience
* Pharma or healthcare IT experience is a strong plus
What you get:
* Early stage UK team. Real say in how things are built
* Live pharmaceutical client work from day one
* Python first, GenAI focused stack. No legacy migration work
* An award winning company culture with consistently high employee satisfaction
* 28 days leave (inc. bank holidays), 3% employer pension, hybrid working
* Room to grow as the UK operation scales
