Role: Lettings Officer Contract Type: Fixed term/secondment opportunity for 12 months Working Hours: 18.5 hours per week, current expectation of working pattern is alternate Wednesdays, Thursday and Friday, 8:30am 4:50pm Worker Type: Hybrid This role offers a blended approach to working, incorporating home, office and community-based activity. When carrying out allocations work, you will predominantly work from home or the office, depending on business need. However, when completing sign-ups, you will be expected to work primarily out in the community, meeting customers on-site and across the local patch. As such, applicants should be comfortable balancing desk-based responsibilities with regular travel and face-to-face work in the community. Read on to find out more About the Role This is an exciting opportunity for individuals to join the Lettings team within Housing Services to provide an effective and customer-focused lettings service through co-ordinated and effective management of allocations, lettings, sign-ups and vacant property management. Please note, this is not an estate agency or property portfolio management role; instead, we are seeking individuals with experience in housing allocations, tenancy management, or customer-focused public services. As a Lettings Officer we will look to you to deliver an accessible, customer-focused lettings service to applicants that takes account of the needs of vulnerable service users whilst achieving a high level of tenant satisfaction. You will manage empty properties effectively to minimise the loss of rental income and to maintain sustainable tenancies and visit properties to undertake sign-ups, pre-terminations inspections, accompanied viewings and transfer inspections. About You The ideal candidate will have: 1. Experience of working within a housing management environment. 2. Demonstrated capacity to effectively organise, use own initiative to prioritise workload to ensure that tasks are completed in an efficient and timely manner. 3. Good interpersonal skills and a proven ability to communicate effectively at all levels. 4. Ability to undertake home visits with tenants and leaseholders as required. 5. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. 6. Experience of effectively managing empty properties and maintaining waiting lists, to minimise the loss of rental income whilst maintaining sustainable tenancies.
