Overview
Clifton Lane Surgery are looking to recruit a Receptionist/Administrator for our small yet very busy practice. The post holder will provide an efficient reception service to patients while also performing clerical duties at the request of clinical and managerial staff. The post is for part-time hours Monday to Friday, with flexibility to work full-time hours when required to cover sickness and annual leave.
Main duties of the job
The ability to multi-task is essential on reception. The successful applicant will ideally have previous experience of working within general practice and must have:
* Excellent communication skills, including a good telephone manner.
* Good level of IT skills and knowledge (experience of System One preferred but not mandatory).
* Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
* Be available to open/close surgery at appropriate times.

Job responsibilities
To ensure that the reception area of the Practice runs smoothly, providing a high level of service to patients, doctors, nurses and other members of the Practice team.
* Telephone duties: Making appointments; taking requests for prescriptions; giving out results; ambulance transport bookings; home visit requests; dealing with general enquiries and complaints; contacting other providers.
* Reception duties: Register new patients and temporary residents; greet and direct patients and visitors; making appointments; handing out prescriptions; ensure outstanding queries are explained and handed over to the next shift as necessary; respond to the needs of doctors and nurses during surgery; collect payments from patients for non-NHS services; deal with general enquiries and complaints.
* Filing: Pull medical envelopes when requested by doctors.
* Prescriptions: Dealing with requests for repeat prescriptions; raising prescriptions as per Practice protocols; dealing with queries relating to repeat prescriptions.
* General: Input and extract information from Practice computer system; observe health and safety guidelines at all times; general housekeeping (e.g. keeping reception and waiting areas tidy); make refreshments for doctors and other team members, participate in washing up; any other reasonable duties as necessary.

* Good standard of general education
* GCSE Mathematics C or above

* NVQII in Customer Care
* CLAIT Qualification
