We have an exciting opportunity to work with our higher education client based in Reading.
Job role: Student Support Admin (Temporary)
Pay: £14.67 per hour
Duration: ASAP until 19th December
Location: Reading – 100% campus based. Opportunity to work one day per week from home after training.
Hours: Monday to Friday 9‑am to 5‑pm
Responsibilities
1. Support a busy in person, online and telephone Helpdesk service, providing first line contact for students. Respond promptly, professionally and accurately to requests for information across a broad range of topics.
2. Work closely with other support staff to ensure that a consistent high level of customer support is provided across the team.
3. Refer to other sources of University support if appropriate (e.g. Student Financial Support Team, the Counselling Service, Student Welfare, or academic staff).
4. Provide clear, effective written, face‑to‑face and telephone communication to applicants and students.
5. Track and support student attendance and progression throughout their programme, escalating areas of concern to relevant staff members.
6. Collaborate with the School and Departmental Directors for Academic Tutoring to collate data and provide reports on student engagement and attendance. Proactively identify students at risk and support intervention through the University’s engagement processes.
7. Liaise with the University’s International Advice team to support monitoring of attendance and engagement for student visa holders.
8. Build effective working relationships with a range of internal stakeholders, including the International Study and Language Centre (ISLC), Admissions, RISIS, Exams and graduation teams to ensure professional seamless delivery of programmes.
9. As necessary and appropriate, act as meeting secretary to relevant boards and committees within the Henley Business School and hold membership of other relevant bodies.
10. Provide input and administrative support into the preparation of student cases in line with the University’s Academic Engagement process.
11. Maintain student records and support quality checks so that accurate and reliable information is available to all stakeholders. Assist in providing data reports and checks when requested.
12. Notify colleagues of potential issues and problems, seeking support and guidance.
13. Liaise with administrators in the wider team to identify and contribute to the development of administrative processes and system automation opportunities to improve efficiency throughout the programme lifecycle.
14. Maintain an in-depth understanding of University policies to ensure they are adhered to during the delegates’ studies.
Qualifications & Skills
* Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders.
* Confidence in being able to successfully build and develop professional relationships with strong interpersonal skills.
* Proven IT skills, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint at least to an intermediate level.
* Exceptional planning and organisational skills to ensure prioritisation and completion of multiple tasks.
* Ability to use personal initiative and take proactive actions to resolve problems.
* Motivated to learn and be involved in new areas of work with an agile mindset.
* Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
