We are a very professional, dedicated, enthusiastic team of 60 bookkeeping and management accounts plus payroll staff. We’ve been providing cloud bookkeeping with management accounts services since 2003 – that’s BookCheck handling cloud bookkeeping for over 17 years now. We provide cloud Sage services, as well as run onsite Sage versions. The other bookkeeping software we use is Xero which is wholly cloud. All of BookCheck’s IT systems have been in the cloud since 2013 – you could say that we’re a company that thinks ahead, so why don’t you join us?

We’ve designed and tailored our bookkeeping with management accounts services around how focused we are. Our team of 60 runs on only two accounting systems Xero and Sage – we will transfer your accounts over from any other system. This company policy ensures that we are highly trained and thoroughly resourced. Apart from payroll with auto enrolment we don’t do anything else, so you know you will be benefitting from a thorough, professional and focussed bookkeeping with management accounts service. If you’re looking for quality, then we guarantee that every set of accounts we produce will be both thoroughly checked and issued personally by a qualified accountant – but don’t mistake us for an accountancy firm.

We are always interested in applications from experienced bookkeepers and from payroll staff. We offer flexibility, challenges, a superb learning environment and experience over a wide range of clients, with great satisfaction from a job well done. We are sometimes looking for qualified accountants of whom there are currently eight in the Company.
This flexibility includes where you work – on or offsite, what time of day and how much work you handle – from usually a minimum of one day per week up to full time.
We believe we have the greatest concentration in the UK of operational Xero and Sage skills and experience – after all we have 60 staff! We all work well individually and truly as a team. This is vitally important as the basis for great client service. We are friendly, always approachable and we never score points from each other.
Clients are allocated BookCheck staff who they keep – this builds up a strong bond and aids communication. At the same time, all staff know that help will be readily provided from the team, if required.
All work is thoroughly checked by one of our qualified accountants, normally monthly, so there is continuous feedback and training. We cannot imagine a better learning environment.
Prerequisites for a successful Bookkeeping application include:
1. Reconciling skills – a natural desire to ‘get it right’
2. Solid bookkeeping experience, usually a minimum of 2 years, almost certainly using Xero, Sage or both.
3. Ability to recognise when assistance is required and to work in a team
4. Willingness to follow tried and tested procedures and methodology
5. Prompt responses to email communications
6. Good communication skills
7. Accuracy and reliability
Prerequisites for a successful Qualified Accountant application include:
8. Reliability in producing sound monthly Management Accounts
9. Ability to handle the Opening Balance adjustments from the external accountant
10. Being able to flex to the client’s reporting requirements
11. Good client handling skills
12. Prompt responses to email communications
13. Good communication skills

Prerequisites for a successful Payroll Officer application include:
15. A preference for this role payroll is your first choice of work
16. Solid payroll experience, usually a minimum of 2 years, ideally Iris (Star)
17. Ability to work as a team to deal with unusual situations
18. Timeliness, accuracy and reliability – as close as possible to 100%
We offer enormous flexibility – staff can choose to work:
19. At home or onsite with clients or a mixture
20. A choice of working anything from one day per week up to full time
21. At a time to suit, so the school run is not a problem
22. Changing requirements over time
We also recruit Supervisors, either directly or from within BookCheck. These are senior bookkeepers whose main responsibility is, not surprisingly, to supervise bookkeepers. This requires a high degree of understanding of Xero or Sage, a thorough knowledge of BookCheck systems, the ability to supervise staff and being a real ‘people person’.
