This is a great opportunity for a Health and Safety Advisor / Coordinator with Construction experience to join a well-established and growing, family-friendly Construction business. Covering the Leeds, Barnsley, Sheffield corridor and surrounding area.
Key responsibilities:
* Take ownership of the company Health & Safety Management System, including its digital and technology-enabled elements.
* Regularly review and update operational documents, including Policy, Site Handbook, RAMS and Induction documents.
* Control and oversee statutory weekly safety documentation
* Oversee the safe coordination of plant movements across sites, working with Site Managers to manage plant and pedestrian/vehicle interface risks.
* Work with site teams and suppliers to address PPE performance, suitability and compliance issues.
* Visit sites regularly to support Site Managers and Supervisors.
* Assist with inductions, toolbox talks and safety briefings where required.
* Liaise with and manage external auditors and advisers.
* Work with sites to close out audit findings and embed improvements.
* Liaise with Clients and Principal Contractors on Health & Safety matters.
* Investigate and report on incidents, ensuring a consistent approach and root-cause analysis, leading to positive action.
* Coordinate and oversee Health & Safety–related training and competence arrangements.
The successful applicant will:
* Experience in a Health & Safety Advisor or Coordinator role within construction or civil engineering
* Proven experience in preparing: Policies / RAMS / Safe Systems of Work / Permit-to-Work documentation
* Strong IT literacy, including Microsoft applications
* Confidence adapting to and learning new computer systems and digital platforms
* Working knowledge of UK construction Health & Safety legislation and CDM Regulations
* Confident communicator with site teams
* Full UK driving licence
You will receive a salary circa £40,000+ (negotiable depending on experience), a company vehicle (or use your own vehicle with mileage allowance if preferred), laptop, mobile phone and desk space you’d expect from a well-established business
