Band 5 Theatre Practitioner (RGN/RODP) role working in the surgical unit at Lymington New Forest Hospital (UHS NHS) Trust.
Based within Lymington New Forest Hospital, a community hospital which opened in 2007. The surgical theatres and day ward are modern and welcoming for patients and staff alike.
Specialties include: Urology, General surgery, Head and Neck, Ophthalmology, Gynaecology, Dermatology, Dental/Maxillary facial, Vascular, Trauma & Orthopaedics, Pain service.
Responsibilities
This role is predominantly a scrub role, with opportunity for development into other roles within the surgical unit at LNFH.
It is a flexible role across both theatres working in the different specialties as well as the outpatient procedure rooms.
The theatres run Monday to Friday (no weekends, nights or late shifts) with a shift pattern of 08:00 - 18:00.
Qualifications, knowledge and experience
* Registered nurse or ODP on relevant part of the register
* Degree or equivalent experience
* Ability to assist in carrying out the transfer of a patient through the intraoperative phase of perioperative care, giving concise accurate handover
* Demonstrate knowledge of the skills required to support learners in practice and to create a positive learning environment.
* Practices and promotes the use of evidence-based practice
* Knowledge of current issues within acute health service.
* Understanding of personal accountability.
* Aptitude for caring for the anaesthetised and/or acutely unwell patient.
* Experience of teaching and supporting learners in practice.
* Experience of working within relevant care setting
* Specialist theatre work–based learning course, or mentorship course, post-qualification.
* Interest in research to promote good practice
