Clinical Nurse Specialist Team Leader - Macular Service

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Band 7 registered Specialist Clinician/Team leader to join our Community Macular service within our Garston Community Site. The role requires dual site activity, to include St Paul's at the Royal Liverpool Hospital, most likely on a 3‑2 split. The successful candidate will have experience within a hospital Ophthalmology unit and experience with Macular patients undergoing intravitreal injections.
Main duties of the job
The Specialist Clinician / Team Leader will act as the clinical expert and professional resource to the Multi‑Professional team, patients and carers within their Speciality Service.
We are looking for someone with experience of working in a high volume healthcare environment, experience of working in an Ophthalmic setting would be an advantage.
This post holder will be a core member of the newly formed macular team within the community, undergoing injections over both sites. The post holder will undergo full training to ensure a smooth transition into the community. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is keen to take on a new challenge and develop this role.
Job responsibilities
The Clinical Nurse Specialist Team Leader will act as the clinical expert and professional resource to the Multi‑Professional team, patients and carers within the Macular Service. The post holder will take overall responsibility to develop the specialist area of practice in partnership with other members of the speciality team (General Manager, Lead Clinician, Matron, Service Manager etc) and will work collaboratively to develop services and quality of care delivered. This will be achieved through the core dimensions of the role, clinical practice leadership, acting as the patient advocate and through audit and education. The post holder will carry responsibility for the patients within the community and under the care of this service, with guidance from the Department Manager. The post holder will contribute to achieving the objectives of the clinical service group / speciality corporate objectives and work within the clinical governance framework. They will lead the development and delivery of a programme of practice and professional development for staff within the speciality.
