An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Psychologist to join the multidisciplinary team providing services under clinical supervision to our forensic community mental health team. The team is based in Norwich but provides support to people across Norfolk. The current post-holder is moving on to start their ClinPsyD training.

Our forensic community team is part of a wide and growing body of clinical services operating in various settings linked to criminal justice services. NSFT Secure Services offer low and medium secure mental health services for men, an innovative secure mental health service for women, mental health and personality disorder services in local prisons, community forensic services, criminal justice liaison and diversion services, and Offender Personality Disorder services in partnership with probation services.


Job summary

This role offers the chance to work within the forensic community mental health team based at Hellesdon Hospital, working alongside qualified psychologists and under the umbrella of the wider NSFT Secure Services Psychology Team. Responsibilities include delivering risk assessments, mental health assessments, brief psychological interventions, co-facilitating therapeutic group work, and supporting the development of positive behaviour support plans and psychological formulations.


Main duties of the job

The post involves working with a range of mental health difficulties, including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, psychosis, personality disorder, and neurodevelopmental disorders. There will be opportunities to learn about offence-specific assessments, formulations, and interventions.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* Essential: BPS-accredited degree in Psychology, conferring eligibility for GBC.
* Desirable: Further postgraduate training in relevant areas of psychology or mental health practice.


Experience

* Essential: Experience working with people with mental health needs.


Knowledge

* Essential: Understanding of the needs and difficulties faced by people with mental health problems or disabilities.
