We’re looking for someone with exceptional communication, collaboration and organisational skills to strengthen and advance clinical governance across HM Coastguard. Working closely with the Medical Director and key partners, you’ll champion best practice, ensure high standards of casualty care, and lead innovation and continuous improvement across our lifesaving operations and declared facilities nationwide.
Liaise and collaborate with all HMCG Branches and wider MCA Stakeholders such as the MCA Chief Medical Adviser, Head of Internal Assurance, Chief People Officer, Assistant Director of Procurement and the Data Protection Manager as required to ensure an integrated approach to corporate matters in terms of advice and compliance affecting clinical governance.
Liaise and collaborate with the RNLI, the UK SAR helicopter provider, independent declared facilities, Fire and Rescue Services, Ambulance Services and other external organisations as required to ensure effective medical interoperability and good clinical governance to provide the best casualty care and appropriate pre hospital trauma pathway for the casualty during multi agency incidents, taking into account the principles of JESIP and Joint Organisational Learning (JOL).
Manage the clinical governance budget effectively, including monthly forecasting and accruals. In collaboration with Operational Assurance, review Operational Learning reports where casualty care is mentioned, or where any concerns of a clinical governance nature are identified and ensure any issues have been followed up appropriately. Significant incidents and trends shall be brought to the attention of the Clinical Governance Board.
Identify trends and anomalies and raise significant findings with senior managers and or the Clinical Governance Board.
Work closely with the Coastguard Technical Training Team, Clinical Tactical Lead to audit and assure the training syllabus, procedures and training delivery are fit for purpose and align with the agreed requirements of the Clinical Governance Board, COG and SOG.
To be an ambassador and subject matter specialist for HMCG at local and national level representing on clinical governance matters as and when required.

Demonstratable knowledge and experience of managing and improving Clinical Governance within a national SAR organisation.
Previous experience of emergency response operations at operational and tactical level, including direct involvement in pre-hospital trauma pathway.
Typical qualifications would be a degree in a management discipline, or equivalent levels of professional development.
A full UK driving license
This role is suitable for hybrid working, which is a non-contractual arrangement where a combination of workplace and home-based working can be accommodated subject to business requirements.
