Technical / Quality Manager
The Technical / Quality Manager is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the highest standards of quality and technical excellence in the manufacturing processes at the Bradford manufacturing facility. This role involves managing quality control and in-process testing, ensuring compliance with COMAH regulations, leading continuous improvement initiatives, and overseeing new product introductions to enhance product quality and operational efficiency. As a member of the site’s leadership team, this role provides strong leadership for the function and the site.
Requirements
Key Accountabilities / Essential Functions of the Job
1. Quality Management: Develop, implement, and maintain quality management systems in compliance with ISO 9001 and 17025 standards. Ensure all activities are managed safely and in compliance with responsible care and legal regulations. Ensure services meet SLS’a and Environmental permit requirements. Manage assets and costs. Support emergency plans by acting as major controller and providing out-of-hours advice. Oversee UKAS-accredited testing to meet environmental permit requirements. Conduct audits of production processes and products. Develop departmental scorecards and report on KPIs. Investigate quality issues and implement corrective and preventive actions. (10%)
2. Technical Oversight: Provide technical expertise in chemical manufacturing, ensuring performance and safety. Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve processes. Oversee technical training programs. (10%)
3. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations, including COMAH. Prepare regulatory reports. Lead emergency response plan development. Identify process improvement opportunities and lead initiatives for quality and efficiency. Use continuous improvement methodologies. Monitor quality metrics and implement data-driven improvements. (10%)
4. Leadership and Collaboration: Lead and mentor quality and technical teams. Collaborate with R&D, production, engineering, and supply chain. Communicate with stakeholders and manage personal development. Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies. Review incident reports and ensure resolution. (20%)
5. Project Management: Lead technical and quality projects from inception to completion. Develop plans, timelines, and budgets. Coordinate with stakeholders. (10%)
6. Data Management and Reporting: Maintain records of quality and technical data. Generate reports on performance, compliance, and improvements. Present findings to management and regulators. (5%)
7. New Product Introduction: Oversee new product launches, ensuring quality and regulatory compliance. Collaborate with R&D and production for process development. Manage scale-up from pilot to full production. (10%)
Qualifications
* Degree or equivalent in Chemistry.
* Minimum 5 years in quality management/technical roles within chemical manufacturing, preferably at a top-tier COMAH site.
* Strong knowledge of quality systems and compliance.
Travel Requirement: Occasional travel for training, audits, and regulatory meetings.
