About the Opportunity – PSA Nuclear Safety Case Engineer (Multiple Locations)

Our Safety Case Engineers are at the forefront of ground breaking projects, working across the civil nuclear and defence sectors, both in the UK and globally. From next-generation systems and emerging reactor technologies, like SMRs, to ensuring the safe operation of existing nuclear facilities, we cover the full spectrum of the nuclear lifecycle. The role of a PSA Nuclear Safety Case Engineer is pivotal. Probabilistic Safety Assessment (PSA) forms the backbone of the safety case, demonstrating that risks are maintained at acceptably low levels. In this role, you’ll be instrumental in designing and maintaining nuclear reactors and facilities, optimising safety and reducing risks. Your work will involve crafting and delivering PSA models, delving into data analysis, supporting key decisions on facility design and operations, and presenting your findings through top-tier technical reports.
Experience and Skills
We’re excited to hear from professionals with expertise in the application of PSA related techniques in any of the following areas:
* Fault and event tree analysis
* Quantified risk and reliability assessments
* Reliability data assessment
* Hazard identification assessments
* Internal and external hazard evaluation, including dedicated Hazard PSA assessments, e.g. seismic, fire and flood
* Statistical risk modelling
* System dependency analysis

Responsibilities
* Deliver technical work to support the demonstration that a facility or system can be operated safely and in compliance with regulatory requirements
* Liaise with clients to understand their challenges and develop solutions
* Represent the business in technical meetings with clients, regulators and other third parties
* Help to maintain the technical capability/knowledge of the community and mentor junior team members (as appropriate)
Qualifications
* A degree (or equivalent demonstrable experience) in a STEM discipline
* Experience of executing project tasks against relevant standards and best practices
* Good communication skills and ability to articulate information to a broad range of stakeholders
* Chartered Member of a professional institute (or equivalent demonstrable experience) or working towards Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status with a relevant professional body
