This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading multidisciplinary consultancy delivering high-quality development planning services across the UK. You’ll be part of a specialist team that works closely with architects, planners, developers, and public sector clients to shape sustainable developments and infrastructure solutions.
The Role:
You’ll play a key role in producing and reviewing Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, Flood Risk Assessments, and Drainage Strategies for a wide variety of schemes — from residential masterplans and commercial developments to education and healthcare projects. The position offers the perfect balance of technical work, design input, and client-facing interaction.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and contribute to the preparation of technical reports, including Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, and Flood Risk Assessments
* Prepare preliminary designs for highway and drainage schemes using CAD and other relevant design tools
* Undertake data analysis, report writing, and technical reviews in line with national and local guidance
* Liaise with clients, local authorities, and stakeholders throughout the planning process
* Attend meetings, consultations, and public exhibitions as required
* Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior team members
* Assist with project management duties to ensure timely delivery of outputs
* Support business development initiatives and contribute to fee proposals when required
About You:
* Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering, Geography, Transport Planning, or a related discipline
* At least 1–2 years’ post-graduation experience in transport planning, flood risk, or drainage design
* Competent in preparing development-related technical reports
* Proficient in AutoCAD and familiar with Civil 3D, MicroDrainage, or PDS
* Strong analytical, report-writing, and presentation skills
* Confident liaising with clients, local authorities, and external stakeholders
* Knowledge of relevant design standards and policy guidance at both national and local levels
* Member (or working towards membership) of a relevant professional institution such as CIHT, TPS, CILT, or ICE
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel occasionally across the UK
Software Exposure:

* Civil 3D – 3D ground and road modelling
* MicroDrainage – drainage design and strategy
* PDS – for highway, signage, and drainage layout
