Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated individual to join our Community Team within South East Shropshire, providing Planned and Admission Avoidance care to patients in the community.
The role supports interdisciplinary teamwork, delivering excellent standards of care, including administration and phlebotomy under qualified nurse supervision.
Responsibilities
* Promote a 'can do' attitude and maintain a dynamic and responsive clinical and administrative support service.
* Handle interruptions, unpredictable events and behaviours appropriately.
* Organise and deliver skilled clinical support and phlebotomy without direct supervision.
* Obtain valid informed consent and work within legal frameworks with patients.
* Collaborate with nursing and therapy staff regarding patient care, highlighting variations from treatment programmes.
* Provide basic verbal and written clinical reports to the supervising nurse and/or therapist and document patient interventions/findings in patient records in line with Trust Record Keeping Policy.
Qualifications
* GCSE Level C+ in English and Maths or Level 2 functional skills in English and Maths, or willingness to work towards these.
* Level 2 in health and social care (or equivalent), or willingness to work towards.
* Care Certificate or willingness to undertake.
Experience and Knowledge
* Aware of accountability issues such as confidentiality.
* Understanding of the role of the Healthcare Support Worker.
* Knowledge of the health care assistant role in context, including phlebotomy.
* Knowledge of situations impacting patient safety and how the support worker contributes to patient safety.
* Good interpersonal skills (written and oral). Ability to communicate effectively with patients and staff; competent English language and grammar for written case notes.
* Calmness when faced with potentially difficult situations.
* Experience of using IT in clinical practice.
Salary and Benefits
Pay Scheme: Agenda for Change
Band: 2
Salary: £24,465 per annum (pro‑rata for part‑time)
Contract: Permanent, Part‑time, Flexible working.
