This Role is part of the RX Digital Team that creates and supports our digital platform and products used by RX exhibitions customers. Using industry leading technologies and digital tooling, we provide a fully integrated toolset and enables the rapid deployment of innovation at scale, data analytics and standard methodologies across the global business
About the Role
You will manage staff responsible for technical excellence assurance covering technical solution design and improving the quality of the software & the development process. Areas covered include platform and solution design, security, quality assurance, performance & reliability and DevOps.
You will analyse and align product roadmaps, organisational and industry updates to support defining and executing the Technical Excellence standards and roadmap to design and deliver high quality solutions that are compliant, secure and reliable.
You will develop teams to help Reed Exhibitions be more efficient and provide a high level of service excellence. The position is additionally expected to report progress to senior management.
Responsibilities
* Collaborating with direct reports and various stakeholders to support the development and maintenance of the technical roadmap, ensuring roadmap planning is well thought out technically and will be successful.
* Providing effective line management to direct reports and contract staff under their area and acting as an independent escalation point.
* Promoting and maintaining a high performance culture, fostering a One Team mentality and we're all in this together.
* Participating in the definition and leading the implementation of technical standards, and performing reviews to ensure architectural standards and processes are followed.
* Ensuring security practices and standards are adopted within development practice and acceptance criteria, with regular security testing is scheduled across all products.
* Collaborating with team on platform architecture, cross functional requirements and complex data models.
* Ensuring production deployments are achieved with the minimum to zero down time to end users.
* Ensuring continuous improvement of engineering practices and operational processes.
Requirements
* Demonstrate experience in leading and managing cross functional teams with responsibility for solution design oversight, security, quality and performance.
* Demonstrate experience working with 2-3 large scale platforms and global businesses, with technical oversight across 5+ workstreams.
* Experience of onshore, nearshore and offshore models with mixed partners.
* Demonstrate knowledge of Architecture frameworks and principals.
* Demonstrate a broad knowledge of Security, Quality Assurance, Performance Testing, Cloud Hosting and DevSecOps.
* Demonstrate problem solving and leading/co-ordinating people across teams as necessary to troubleshoot/diagnose complex project issues and get beyond symptoms to identifying root cause.
* Experience with cloud based hosting and container solutions, Devops and cost/efficiency optimisations.
* Demonstrate solid interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
