Trailer Maintenance Manager

Allports Rental is a leading provider of commercial vehicle and trailer contract hire and rental solutions. With a commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction, we operate a fleet of distribution trailers to meet the needs of our growing customer base. We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Trailer Maintenance Manager to join our team and oversee the maintenance cost and compliance operations of our circa 700+ trailer fleet.
Based at our dedicated Rental Operations Centre at Fradley Park, Lichfield, we are looking for an experienced Trailer Maintenance Manager to lead our maintenance team in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our trailer fleet. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of trailer maintenance, including inspections, repairs, and preventative maintenance programs. The Trailer Maintenance Manager will play a crucial role in maximising uptime and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
You will:
1. Lead, manage, and develop a team of maintenance controllers and planners, providing guidance, training, and support as needed
2. Manage and develop maintenance schedules and procedures to ensure the timely servicing and repair of trailers
3. Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to procure services for repairs and maintenance activities, with appropriate SLAs and measures in place
4. Responsibility for maintenance activities, including repairs, inspections, and service history
5. Monitor compliance in line with legislation and company policies to ensure a safe working environment
6. Analyse maintenance data, cost, and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions
7. Collaborate with other departments to optimise trailer utilisation and efficiency

Requirements:
17. Proven experience in trailer/vehicle maintenance or a similar role within the transportation industry
18. Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team
19. Detail-oriented with strong organisational and problem-solving abilities
20. Knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations and industry standards
21. Proficiency in using maintenance management software and tools
22. Valid driving license and willingness to travel as needed
