We’re looking for a Graduate Civil Engineer to join our Civil and Structural Engineering team in our Birmingham office as part of our 2026 Graduate Programme, where you’ll help deliver sustainable projects for our communities, planet, and society.
As a Stantec graduate, you will collaborate with your team and wider cohort, developing your expertise within an exciting and creative interdisciplinary environment. You will benefit from strong support from office and technical colleagues, with significant guidance from senior staff in our open and collaborative culture.
This is a fantastic opportunity to start your career in civil engineering by gaining valuable experience within an established consultancy. We’re looking for graduates with a passion for the built environment, and the desire to work in a highly collaborative, multi-disciplinary team focused on sustainability, technical excellence, and shaping construction in the UK and overseas.
Your Role
* Contribute to project work at concept and scheme design stages, including modelling, detailed design, specification, and drawing.
* Prepare reports, providing advice and guidance to clients and project teams.
* Undertake STEM engagement activities.
* Liaise with internal and external team members, developing relationships and people skills.
* Manage your own workload to meet project deadlines.
* Engage with the wider Civil & Structural division, the Technical Leadership Team, and the Carbon Task Force to exchange best practice and support ongoing initiatives.
* Arrange and attend meetings, take minutes, and distribute actions.
* Attend and contribute to project team meetings.
* Visit sites to undertake inspections and walkovers.
* Develop commercial awareness by assisting with preparation of proposals and tenders for new work.
About You
At Stantec, we value your potential over past experience. Along with a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, we’d love to receive your application if you are:
* An Adapter – Able to remain calm in new and changing situations, comfortably switching between a variety of dynamic tasks.
* A Perseverer – Composed in the face of setbacks, approaching challenges with confidence and determination.
* A Collaborator – Effective working with different people, considering others’ perspectives to shape better outcomes.
* A Problem-Solver – Willing to share your ideas and challenge conventional thinking where appropriate.
Work Arrangement
We ask our graduates to come into the office a minimum of 4 days per week to ensure colleagues can provide the appropriate level of support.
What We Can Offer You
* A competitive salary.
* Private medical insurance.
* A range of benefits, including holiday buy and sell, group income protection, and life assurance.
* A permanent employment contract to demonstrate our commitment to your long-term career at Stantec.
* A professional progression plan, supporting you to attain professional status.
* A supportive and collaborative team environment, Early Careers peer group, and a wider employee resource group network.
