Belmont Recruitment are currently seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to work with a Lancashire-based Local Authority’s Building Services on a temporary basis. This is a full-time role working 37 hours per week (Mon – Fri) based from the Authority’s Preston office.
The incoming Structural Engineer will be working with a professional team responsible for delivering a wide range of engineering services. You will be responsible for providing expert technical advice and support, leading projects, and ensuring that all engineering activities meet statutory, regulatory, and professional standards.
Main Duties:
* Deliver and manage a full range of professional structural engineering assignments
* Provide expert guidance and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders
* Support and mentor junior staff and external partners
* Identify opportunities to improve service delivery, policies, and procedures
* Contribute to and lead small to medium-sized projects, analysing data and producing reports as required
* Develop effective relationships with external agencies and service providers to support joint working and best practice
Essential Criteria:
* A formal professional qualification in engineering
* Demonstrable experience in a similar role, preferably within a Local Authority setting
* In-depth knowledge of relevant engineering standards, frameworks, and legislation
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Experience in mentoring or training junior members of staff
