Exciting opportunity alert! We are seeking a dedicated Buyer for a permanent position located in Severn Beach, Bristol. In this role, you will play a crucial part in the order placement and expediting process of various commodities. Your responsibilities will encompass actioning purchase requisitions, generating purchase orders, and effectively communicating with suppliers to ensure a seamless delivery process. You will also be tasked with resolving delivery, invoice, and price discrepancies that may arise.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Place orders with approved suppliers, balancing MRP demand, cost break points, and inventory targets; obtain optimal lead times, quality, and price; use designated OIPT key suppliers per the Approved Vendor List.
2. Ensure weekly Open Order reports are actioned and the MRP system is updated.
3. Develop commodity strategies and identify improvement opportunities to enhance quality, reduce costs, improve delivery, and mitigate supply chain risks.
4. Handle invoice queries, manage return-to-vendor stock, facilitate FAIs, update costs, review lead times, manage service stocks, and oversee spot purchases.
5. Collaborate with the Senior Buyer to manage approved suppliers and implement optimal commercial solutions for current and future parts and assemblies.
6. Ensure the supply plan aligns with the production schedule, with materials ordered on time to enable shortage-free kits at build launch.
7. Communicate material availability issues, understand business changes, and develop solutions to minimize impact on delivery commitments.
8. Manage supplier agreements, service level agreements, scorecards, and conduct regular supplier visits and business reviews.
9. Work with Engineering, Planning, and Quality teams to support robust supplier management.
10. Track shortages daily and provide information for production meetings.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Purchasing qualification by experience or education (CIPS Level 4).
* Technical qualification (HNC/HND or Degree).
* Strong relationship-building skills.
* Excellent communication skills and proficiency in Excel and data analysis.
* Experience with MRP systems, ideally E1 (JD Edwards), SAP, or Oracle.
* Ability to manage conflicting priorities and teams.
* Effective communicator with experience in engineering or production environments, managing challenging deadlines and changes.
* Knowledge of complex manufacturing supply chains and purchasing processes.
* Understanding of ERP/MRP systems and data compliance importance.
* Innovative mindset and openness to new ways of working.
