The Role – Communications and PR Officer As a key member of the Comms and PR team, you’ll assist and drive a pipeline of communications initiatives, across a range of channels from print to online/digital and events. We’re looking for a passionate, ambitious individual to run with high autonomy in supporting their exposure across the sector. The organisation is continuing to evolve in-line with the industry and therefore opportunity seeking and a creative mindset is essential. Responsibilities: * Proactively horizon scanning trade and mainstream press for story opportunities to make an impact – making recommendations to the Head of PR & Corporate Communications and actively pursuing and securing pitches. * Frequent monitoring of breaking news – quickly identifying relevant industry stories where there is an opportunity or requirement for the business to comment. * Continuous review of press moves and beats – keeping up to date knowledge of journalist interests and outputs and sharing with the communications team. * Monitor the press mailbox, responding to press requests and escalating as appropriate. * Prepare press releases and update press communications with releases and statements. * Create documentation, graphics and materials as required – in line with brand guidelines. * Support the preparation and delivery of the AGM – including updating and testing content, photography management, and general operational tasks. * Arrange and manage photography as required for events, on set, and internal requirements. * Attend PR activities / screenings / events as required to represent Directors UK. * Work closely with the Public Affairs Officer, and Digital Communications Officer – ensuring joined up thinking around key messaging and storytelling opportunities, ensuring appropriate social media coverage of press / PR activities and keeping members informed of activities Experience required: * Strong experience of Corporate Communications and Public Relations, preferably within an in-house environment. * Proactive approach to identifying opportunities. * A portfolio and examples of previous projects and written copy/achievements. * Demonstrable excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Strong presentation skills. * Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills. * Ability to work well under pressure and to deadlines, both within a team and independently. * Ability to prioritise multiple delivery deadlines. * Excellent relationship and stakeholder management skills. * Strong research skills. * Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe and Outlook. * Pro-active, can-do attitude.
