Mobile Vehicle Technician – SMR Division
Join the RAC as a Mobile Vehicle Technician in our SMR Division – a new era of mobile repair. A competitive base salary of £45,378 (inclusive of London Weighting Allowance, if applicable), with on-target earnings up to £57,000. A guaranteed overtime option can increase your base salary, plus additional overtime and bonus opportunities. 40 hours per week, core hours from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, and 1 in 4 Saturdays.
What to Expect
Your day starts with a clear digital schedule. Each job is pre‑booked, and the member is expecting you. You will carry out routine servicing, diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment, in‑depth repairs normally completed in a workshop, member advice and recommendations based on inspections, and vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards.
SMR is structured; you are not reacting to breakdowns but delivering planned work that you can prepare for. From day one you will have a fully equipped RAC van, a fuel card, uniform, full tool set, and advanced diagnostics.

Requirements
* Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent).
* Minimum two years’ experience as a vehicle technician on light vehicles.
* Full UK driving licence with fewer than six points.
