We are seeking a Manager for our 300 sow indoor/outdoor pig farm located in the Waimakariri district, approximately 3/4 hour from Christchurch.
This is a hands-on managerial position involving all aspects of pig farming, including daily stock management, AI, stock selection, farrowing, milling, feeding, and record keeping.
The role is suitable for someone with previous management experience or a senior stockperson looking to advance to management. Key requirements include proven management of stock and staff, accurate record keeping, maintaining high stock welfare standards, and an eye for selecting breeding and finishing stock.
Experience with different feeds and feeding systems, workplace health and safety, tractor and machinery operation, and ensuring farm biosecurity are essential.
The farm is located 1/2 to 1 hour's drive from ski fields, mountains, rivers, and lakes, and is close to several towns.
