Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting a compassionate and dedicatedSEN Teaching Assistantto supportprimary-aged pupils with high needs Special Educational Needs (SEN)within a supportive and inclusive school environment.
This role involves working closely with pupils who may havecomplex learning needs, including autism, communication difficulties, social-emotional needs, or additional behavioural support requirements. You will play a key role in helping pupils access learning, develop independence, and build confidence both inside and outside the classroom.
You may be required to provide1:1 support or work with small groups of pupilswith Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
* Provide1:1 and small group supportfor pupils with high-level SEN needs
* Assist the class teacher in adapting lessons and activities to ensure accessibility for all pupils
* Support pupils withautism, ADHD, speech and language needs, SEMH needs, or complex learning difficulties
* Implement strategies outlined inEHCPs and Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
* Encourage pupil independence, communication, and social interaction
* Support pupils withemotional regulation and behaviour management strategies
* Assist with classroom preparation, resources, and structured learning activities
* Monitor and report pupil progress to teachers and SENCO staff
* Provide support during transitions, break times, and school activities
We are looking for someone who ispatient, resilient, and passionate about supporting children with additional needs.
Essential qualities include:
* Experience working with children or young people with SEN (school, care, youth work, or similar setting)
* A calm, nurturing, and supportive approach
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* Ability to build positive relationships with pupils who may need additional emotional support
* A genuine passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning
Desirable but not essential:
* Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
* Experience supporting pupils withAutism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, or complex learning needs
* Knowledge of behaviour support strategies such asPECS, Makaton, or sensory-based approaches
