Receptionist - Obstetrics and Gynaecology
Job Summary: The Gynaecology Department has an exciting opportunity to join our diverse and friendly admin and clerical team as a receptionist within our outpatient department. We are looking for an enthusiastic, welcoming candidate who can communicate well with patients, their relatives and a wide range of mutli-professional staff, internal and external to the trust. This is a 37.5 hour, Monday-Friday (working times to be discussed at interview). PRIDE values (People focused, Respect, Integrity, Dedication and Excellence) should guide behaviour and interactions.
Responsibilities
* Be a member of a large dynamic admin team and provide an essential first point of contact between the hospital, patients and their relatives, and diverse staff groups including clinicians, nurses and administrative teams.
* Deal efficiently and effectively with direct and indirect patient contact.
* Work well autonomously and as part of a team.
* Manage multiple conflicting demands and prioritise tasks.
* Demonstrate and maintain knowledge of Trust and National policies.

Job Description & Person Specification
* Job responsibilities: To provide a support service to the technical, secretarial, medical and nursing staff of the Department.
* To carry out receptionist duties, prioritising and arranging appointments, maintaining appointment systems, identifying test requests and investigations, and coordinating clinics within the department.
* To deal with patients and staff enquiries in person or by telephone, in a courteous and confidential manner.
* To ensure patient safety and well-being in the waiting area prior to appointment and alert staff to concerns.
* To log telephone requests for investigations and prioritise and convey messages to appropriate staff.
* To maintain appointment lists and prepare for clinical work; obtain and prepare notes for clinics or staff requests.
* To understand the 18 Week Pathway, input RTT codes and validate patient pathways where appropriate.
* To liaise with Secretaries and other Trust departments to ensure cases, notes, x-rays and referrals are available for outpatient clinics; liaise with external stakeholders for referrals when needed.
Qualifications & Experience
* Essential: Good general standard of literacy and numeracy
* Essential: Previous clerical work including data input; NHS or customer service experience
* Essential: Good communication and interpersonal skills
* Desirable: Customer care skills
* Attitude & Aptitude: Flexible, able to multi-task and prioritise; demonstrates PRIDE values; commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
